OCEANSIDE, CA — A major incident occurred this Wednesday morning when a tanker truck overturned on Interstate 5, resulting in a SigAlert being issued for the affected area.
The accident took place at 5:48 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-5, located south of the Aliso Creek rest area and north of Oceanside, as documented in the incident log of the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
As a result of the crash, the right two lanes of the freeway and the adjacent shoulder were rendered impassable, as confirmed by both Caltrans and the CHP. Authorities have estimated that these lanes will remain closed for approximately six hours to facilitate cleanup and recovery operations.
Fortunately, there were no other vehicles involved in the incident, and no injuries have been reported thus far.
