Major lane closures are set to impact Highway 101 in the South Bay area of San Francisco this week, potentially causing traffic congestion and delays for drivers. The closures will affect a 12-mile stretch of the freeway for a four-day period, restricting access to lanes at the center divider and right-hand shoulder. The closure is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between January 16 and 19. Caltrans announced that the closures are necessary to facilitate highway sweeping operations, and the affected area spans from 13th Street in San Jose to Shoreline Boulevard in Mountain View.
