In Whittier, California, an overturned truck caused a major disruption on the 605 Freeway early Thursday. The incident occurred as a result of a collision between the big rig and a pickup truck attempting to enter the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place south of Whittier Boulevard and led to the spillage of the truck’s cargo of dirt, which blocked multiple lanes on the freeway. In response, cleanup crews were dispatched to clear some of the dirt, enabling traffic to pass through the affected area.
As of now, one lane has been reopened on the northbound 605 Freeway, while two lanes remain closed on the southbound side.
Fortunately, the freeway lanes were reopened before noon. The removal of the dirt pile was facilitated by the use of a front-end loader, and at least two cranes were employed to upright the overturned truck.
Both drivers involved in the accident sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
